Mutai runs fastest ever marathon

Geoffrey MutaiMutai finished in two hours, three minutes and two seconds, the Kenya Geoffrey Mutai the Boston Marathon men a won an unofficial world record time of two hours, three minutes and two seconds.

The previous world best 2: 03: 59 by Ethiopia's Haile Gebrselassie in Berlin on 28 September 2008 set.

But Mutai's run will qualify as an official world record, because the Boston course is downhill and he benefited from strong tailwind.

Compatriot beat the 29-year-old Moses Cheruiyot MOSOP with only four seconds.

And Mutai smashed the course record in the last year's race by Kenyan Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot, almost three minutes set.

"I knew I could run well but that was not on my mind," said Mutai. "I felt OK." I was convinced after the training so much in me.

"I tried to push me." The wind blew on all pages everywhere on the course. "We were not from the wind but it came out around us."

Mutai and Mossop ran side by-side in the later stages of the race before Mutai ahead, drawn as they moved towards goal.

He is the 19 Kenyan winner of the race in the past 21 years.

It was finished a sprint finish in the women's case, where Caroline Cheptanui Kilel, at the same time would be Kenya, two seconds ahead of American Desiree Davila.

The results are a Kenyan double, as the men and women race at the London Marathon just a day after Emmanuel Mutai and Mary Keitany completed won.
