Warning about UK car-making future

Mr. Reilly told the BBC that car, the decision-makers were fighting because they had to import as many vehicle components.

He said the situation added shipping costs and currency risks, as well as a longer supply chain created.

The present Government understood the problem but decisions meant decades ago, that many of your component-making SMEs, lost the United Kingdom had added Mr. Reilly.

He said "Our biggest problem is lack of suppliers in the UK".

"Gave much business the 70's, 90's we." What it means is that when Luton [Vauxhall Factory] we import a set of components.

"If we have a decent amount of local suppliers this place, difficult to be competitive."

He went on: "honest said, I think it is the most critical problem facing the automotive industry in the United Kingdom."

"It is not enough to Nissan, Toyota, Opel that produce products, because we never compete with another country where the supplier will be around the auto plants."

General Motors, who was forced during the recession in the bankruptcy two years ago, is now majority of the United States controlled and the Government of Canada.

Automobile construction in GM Europe's works in Luton and Cheshire has since backed up for the medium term.

In March, it was confirmed that the Luton plant the new Vivaro van, developed together with Renault would build.

"Three sites"

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), one of the largest car manufacturers in Britain, is now to develop views on proposals, which could create more than 1,000 jobs, an engine plant in the United Kingdom, sources said the Sunday close to the company Telegraph.

That there were three locations, the JLR were considering - Wolverhampton, South Wales and a site in India that were not classified.
