Only fools creator Sullivan dies

He had been in intensive care for six weeks in a hospital in Surrey, fight against viral pneumonia.

BBC Director General Mark Thompson said: "John had a unique gift for everyday life and all of us in unforgettable comedy know characters."

The son of a plumber, he survived is sons, a daughter and two grandchildren by his wife Sharon, and two.
