Brand in the Chinese capital of kills 17

The authorities are investigated in the southern suburb of Daxing, the cause of the blaze.

Safety standards for buildings in China have been revised recently, after a big fire in November killed 58 people. A probe showed in that blaze, that accidentally netting had to ignited unlicensed welders in the building.

The fire started in the early Monday morning.

Beijing's Secretary of the Communist Party, Liu Qi, and Mayor of the city, Guo Jinlong, have make researchers "quickly the cause", said Xinhua News Agency reported.
