Indian guru Satya Sai Baba dies

Doctors say that the guru, who is meant, have millions of followers all over the world, died after a cardiac arrest.

He had admitted respiratory diseases to the hospital in his home town of Puttaparthi in the last month and suffer from renal failure.

He enjoyed support from all sections of Indian society - including Bollywood movie stars and senior politicians.

His high-profile supporters include former Indian Prime Minster Atal Behari Vajpayee and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Many followers as a living God, and him with mystical powers, including the possibility of objects from the air put him credited.

His death described as an "irreparable loss" Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Mr Singh said "he was a spiritual leader, who inspired millions, live a moral and meaningful life, even as they followed the religion of their choice,".

Reincarnation claims

His organization has funded health and education projects, including hospitals and clinics, which claim to cure diseases of the capabilities of the medicine.

But his career has been through controversy dogged. He had here is some of the so-called miracles ascribed that accused him.

And some former followers accused him and other members of his Ashram of sexual abuse.

He denied the allegations and was never charged with a criminal offence.

The hospital said that his body would be for public viewing on Monday and Tuesday before a funeral ceremony is held.

"We appeal to all not to rush to the hospital, but too quiet and have darshan [display] in an ordered," said the hospital in a statement.

Satya Sai Baba's hometown was in a large complex of hotels, resorts, University buildings and a huge Ashram populated with followers lifted.

He rose to prominence as a teenager after the announcement to his family, that he the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba, was a century of Indian holy man, who was equally revered by Hindus and Muslims had.

By 1950 he had his first Ashram built and managed in recent decades to build a worldwide fan base.
