Jackson Estate reaches settlement

20 April 2011, last updated at 08: 58 GMT Michael Jackson Jackson's estate sued the heal the World Foundation in 2009 Michael Jackson's estate has a settlement reached using the late singer's image and likeness with heal the World Foundation (HTWF).

The estate sued says charity in 2009, that had abused that brands create it an association with Jackson's now defunct charity with the same name.

HTWF said Jackson's lawyers permission to run the Foundation had given in 2005.

The charity can no longer heal the world name or Jackson's similarity.

The deal came as a study in the a bid to decide ownership of brands start was.

Jackson's estate had tried, the use of words and phrases associated with the star, including "King of Pop" and "Thriller" block.

The Foundation had registered a number of Jackson-related brands, applied for a further 41 and sold goods with them.

The settlement calls for Jackson's estate continues to the rights to heal the world charity and rights in trademarks the current Foundation held.

Jackson healing the world in 1992 founded but later it up he fought child abuse allegations.

HTWF's Director, Melissa Johnson, claimed that one of Jackson's former lawyer told her that she wanted the pop star to perform the Foundation in 2005.

Jackson's three children worked with the charity, sitting on the Youth Board consultant.

Johnson's lawyer has yet to comment on the settlement.
