' Fukushima radiation ' rainfall

Iodine-131 was detected previously, while air surveillance in the city and in the grass taken around the Dounreay nuclear site in Caithness.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has informed the food standards agency (FSA).

The FSA said the levels provided there is no risk for the food chain.

SEPA said: "Rainfall over Scotland in the last few days have now been tested and showed the presence of very low concentrations of iodine 131."

"Preliminary analysis of routine grass samples collected in the North of Scotland showed very low levels of iodine 131."

"Further analysis carried out and the final results are expected to start next week."

The Agency said that the activity of iodine-131 by half after eight days of falls and sunk after 16 days at 25%.

Dounreay site restoration limited (DSRL) live monitors air, sea and grass to examine samples as routine, all possible pollutants from the plant.

Iodine 131 has elsewhere in Europe, including Iceland and France are traced.
