Enjoy four dead in car reservoir

Police said two vehicles have been in the collision on the B4518 at the Llyn Clywedog Reservoir near the town of Llanidloes, Powys, and one entered the reservoir.

A man was arrested on suspicion of death caused by dangerous driving.

Police said the occupants of the car were suspected, all from the same family, that of Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon TAF.

An RAF helicopter joined fire brigade and ambulance crews at the reservoir.

The incident occurred near the town of Clywedog and concluded at the crossroads of B4518 and the B4569 of the A470.

Dyfed-Powys police said a Peugeot 807 and a Ford Mondeo in a collision at about 1430 BST on the Bwlch y GLE dam were involved in.

The Peugeot left the road and into the water at the dam.

Police said in a statement: "we can drive guest even if the woman the Peugeot managed to escape from the car and is now receiving medical care - but tragically four other inmates the car have been killed."

"The body of a man from the car has been restored, but the other bodies remain submerged and arrangements will recover it."

"A local man arrested at the scene of suspected causes death by dangerous driving, and is currently in custody." "The street is closed and will remain so for the foreseeable future."

An eyewitness, said that the car was gone in the water about five to 10 metres from the road.

A woman working in the car showroom close said that it was said that a car had a different cut off, and one had gone from them in the water.

"We saw many police cars go past, ambulances and two recovery boats," said the woman who wanted to be with the name.

Mid and West Wales Fire and rescue services said two fire crews and two boats in operation involved.

Firefighters received a call from Dyfed-Powys police. Two fire engines, made one from Llanidloes and one on the scene of Newtown and rescue boats from Aberystwyth and Llanidloes.

RAF Valley, based on Anglesey, sent a Sea King helicopter crew search and rescue missions.
